Services & Pricing

Build and manage your salon's services catalog — define service names, durations, prices, categories, and online booking availability.

Overview

The Services Catalog is the source of truth for what your salon offers and what it costs. Every appointment created in DramPulse draws its duration and price from this catalog. Keeping it accurate ensures your calendar blocks the right amount of time, your invoices reflect the correct amounts, and your online booking page shows up-to-date offerings to clients.

Key Concepts

Service — A single bookable item with a name, category, duration, and price.

Category — A grouping for services that organizes your catalog and controls how services appear on the online booking page (e.g., Cuts, Color, Treatments, Nails).

Add-On — A secondary service that can be appended to a primary service during booking. Add-ons have their own duration and price, which are added to the base service totals.

Pricing Type — Services support three pricing types:

Type Description
Fixed A single price shown to clients and charged at checkout
Starting At A minimum price displayed on the booking page; final price set by staff at checkout
Staff-Specific Price varies by staff member based on their tier or experience level

Duration — How long the service takes. Duration is used to block calendar time and set the appointment end time automatically.

How It Works

Creating a Service

  1. Go to Settings > Services and click Add Service.
  2. Enter the service name.
  3. Select or create a category.
  4. Set the duration in minutes.
  5. Choose a pricing type and enter the price.
  6. Toggle Available Online if this service should appear on the public booking page.
  7. Optionally set a Buffer Time specific to this service (overrides the global buffer setting).
  8. Click Save.

Organizing with Categories

Go to Settings > Services > Categories to create, rename, reorder, or archive categories. Categories appear in the order you set them on the online booking page. Archiving a category hides it from new bookings but preserves historical appointment records.

Creating Add-Ons

Go to Settings > Services > Add-Ons and click Add Add-On. Set the name, duration, and price. Then link the add-on to one or more parent services under Allowed With. During booking, staff or clients can attach eligible add-ons to any qualifying primary service.

Staff-Specific Pricing

If you use the Staff-Specific pricing type, set the price per staff member from Settings > Services, click into the service, and select the Staff Pricing tab. Enter each staff member's rate. On the online booking page, clients see "Prices vary by stylist" with the actual price shown after they choose a staff member.

Editing and Archiving Services

Click any service to edit its details. Changes apply immediately to future bookings — existing appointments are not retroactively updated. To stop offering a service without deleting its history, click Archive. Archived services are hidden from booking flows but remain on historical appointments.

Bulk Price Updates

Go to Settings > Services > Bulk Edit to apply a percentage or flat increase across all services or a selected category. Review the preview before confirming — this action cannot be undone in bulk (changes must be reverted individually).

Tips

  • Use "Starting At" pricing for services with significant variation (e.g., balayage) to prevent clients from expecting the minimum price when the actual service will cost more.
  • Set accurate durations — calendar efficiency depends on them. If a service consistently runs over, increase the duration in the catalog rather than expecting staff to rush.
  • Group popular add-ons prominently in the booking flow to increase average ticket value without requiring staff to upsell verbally.
